Tom Hanks “The Sixties” CNN #3

Tom Hanks “The Sixties” CNN This week CNN and Tom Hanks’ “The Sixties” is exploring The Assassination of President Kennedy, the most perplexing murder mystery in man’s history of violence. This third episode of the original series will be shown starting June 12, 2014. I have seen a preview of the program, and I am impressed with the never-before-seen footage and scrupulous detail to facts. Conclusions were reached by numerous trusted government agencies and commissions, but…but….

But, but at the time of the tragedy, the mystery was not solved to the satisfaction of most of the American public. And that dissatisfaction and suspicion by so many people in this country undermined our faith in our government. That disillusionment toward our leadership set the stage for the anti-war, anti-corporation, anti-establishment ideals of the hippie era, formulated in the rebellion of the 1967 Summer of Love!

The producers, Gary Goetzman (HBO’s John Adams and The Pacific), Emmy award-winner Mark Herzog (History’s Gettysburg) and Tom Hanks have dug deeply to find the most vivid stories and lucid information.

Yet even if we could put that genie back into the bottle, and we were convinced as nation of the lone gunman, it is still an open sore. As long as anyone who lived through the events of 1963 and 1964 is still alive, the issue is not solved. Since that time, other politicians and other authorities have failed us as well, leaving many Americans unhappy with our governing.

Without proper historic documentation, we will never be able to solve society’s problems and stop repeating the same mistakes. This CNN original series on “The Sixties” is television at its most enlightening and thought-provoking!
